The Con

Standard

Wit and Wisdom –

Two very different things

One is your mistress

The other wears your ring

One makes you smile

The other gives you grief

One nags your ass

The other gives relief

To have your cake and eat it, too –

Both desires of your heart

You pick Wisdom in the end

Wit plays your foolish mark

    • I feel really bad because I tried to reply to this once already and I just saw that it didn’t go through – I’ve had internet issues for the past month ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I did want to say thank you, though and I’m always grateful for your comments and for keeping up with things over here! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • You’re always welcome. And the same thanks to you for coming my way. ๐Ÿ™‚ Something seems up with these comment notifications lately.

  1. Very nice. Wit and wisdom are both traits that people seem to either forget or misinterpret. I see no problem with keeping up with both mistresses, but as you said, I already know which one is closest to my heart.

    • There have been times when I’ve had both and times when I’ve had neither – and plenty of times when my efforts were misinterpreted! Thank you Joe for your take on things ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Oh, yes, so true. I love this one, it resonated in me all the ass nagging and foolish marks I’ve been through. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. cleaver poem…

Ayup! whispered, while sucking in a breath – standard greeting using the reverse nod!

      • A super busy one. Ugh, so much work here to do and the heat is a bit much. Stay cool and keep writing so that when I fall into this chair late at night I have good reading material ….thank you Sheila ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I think your last line is killer diller, I think that there is a rhythm in poetry and especially with your poem which is a collection of thought provoking statements it sort of brings the poem to its meaning and – if it makes any sense – it’s like an incredibly halt; if we were talking baseball I’d say it’s like ‘the babe’ hit one out of the park.

    I enjoyed and admired this.

    • Wow – I’m speechless and thankful ๐Ÿ™‚ You know that feeling when it flows, as if each word naturally attaches to the next? I had that feeling when I wrote this one. I truly appreciate your comments ๐Ÿ™‚ I happen to thoroughly enjoy your work!
