My grief abounds, brought to the surface
Pain I’ve held at bay far too long
Friends taken too soon,
Lonely memories of a woeful heart
Christmas isn’t always a time of joy
Inflicted pain pays back pain inflicted
I need the tears of angels to wash my soul,
To remove the anguish of your stain
Angry rants, seemed justified at the time
Now I see they are completely unnecessary
A solution presents, simplistic as it is -
I will write you into history,
Your legacy will be as I leave it.

Ah…as many a writer has done…to write/rewrite history through their eyes…we call it academic/creative freedom.
Whatever gets us through it, whatever ‘it’ is…
Weapon of choice indeed. The pen is mightier?
Depends on the skill of the hands holding it I suppose…
This is lovely, Sheila, and obviously straight from the heart.
Thanks Carrie and yes it is…
Well Xmas isn’t going to be a happy time for a while for the families affected at last weeks tragedy. So sad really…
So true Elliot. My heart breaks for them…
It reminds me of the Chinese operative who was recently arrested with a pen that contained a lethal injection. It really is true in another sense. *sigh* A request for a happy Christmas post before the Christmas. Please, please!
I’ll get to work on it!!
Whew, we really need some cheer! Thanks, Sheila.
I like the way you turn the hurt around and defeat it. Choice is powerful.
It really is. I look at it like this – either we defeat the hurt or the hurt defeats us. I’ve been in both places before.
We use what tools we have, and for writers, it is good to have such an expressive one, where we can get out what is pent up inside us.
If I didn’t have writing to purge my feelings into, I’m fairly certain I’d be under the care of a psychiatrist … might need to be anyway
Beautiful. I can relate.
Thank you – glad you enjoyed it
An utterly horrific and completely senseless tragedy… What did those poor young souls do to deserve such a thing? I can’t understand…
Just a terrible terrible event. We have all been so sad over it, and like you, no one can understand why.
